Looking at buying a 1990 F250 2wd extended cab, the entire passenger side is, to put it nicely...crushed. What years should I be looking for, and is there a issue with truck size? (ie: 150 vrs 250).. Also comes with a 5.8 EFI and auto trans if anyone wants to keep track.
what are we lookin at here cab front clip box? all of the above? ... it doesnt matter either way if it looks the same it will fit...im pretty sure the frames were all the same on those years...and if you chose you can swap in the front clip from a 92-96 truck or an 80-86 truck if you prefer and you could swap the interior in from those years as well...
interior and exterior parts anre interchangable from 1980-1996/1997
The damage goes from front fender all the way back tot he tailgate..guy sideswiped a light pole and, for whatever reason kept going... I figure front fender and door..I'm guessing the box would have to be swapped down the road. Also think it will be faster and easier to cut a panel from a wreck for the extended part of the cab than trying to hammer it out...but then hammering it would give me something to do when I want to beat my soon to be X wife
but then hammering it would give me something to do when I want to beat my soon to be X wife
sounds fun
if you are talking about trying to hammer the cab itself good luck...there is more than one layer to it but as long as it isnt crinkled you could use a stud welder and a slide hammer to pull the dents out...if its crinkled might as well get a new cab...even cutting and welding would be a PITA
should put up some pics that might help us help you
Once I have it I will..guy wants 450 for it, sounds good, slight lifter tink, shifts nice..however at 40miles it gets real scary due to (he claims) out of balanced wheels... that part has me wondering if I want to go for it or not...Just had that (balancing) done to my car and it ran 60 bucks, course if it is something else its NOT 4X4 so should be a bit cheaper to work on. Oh and the rest of the body is in great shape, no rust to be seen, a bit of paint peel on the hood..insides ok, no major rips or tears. All in all if one had to part it out they would get their moneys worth.
For body parts, it would be easist to use 87-91 trucks. You should be able to use 92-96 bed sides and the door, but the vent window is different on 92-96 trucks than on 80-91. The body panels from 80-86 have different body lines at the wheels wheels etc.
Thanks guys, I'll drive over and take a few pic of the damage. Want to look at this thing in the full day light as so far I have only been there in the evening hours when he has been home.
