I have a 2002 F350 with the 7.3L diesel. It is the first diesel I have owned and I love it.
A couple of days ago it didn't want to start. I turn the key on the let the glow plug light go out and it has always started easy. It was early morning and maybe low 40's. The engine turned over, but would not fire. My manual says to not pump the fuel pedal, but after trying to start it a few times I pumped it and then it fired, but was really lazy and there was a big cloud of smoke from the exhaust. I know it was all the unburnt fuel. After a few minutes it cleaned out and ran great. Had no other problems the rest of the day. A few days later it did the same thing. I pumped it and it lite. It appears to happen after it has sat for a couple of days. It's only happened those 2 times, but now everytime I get in I am really worried about it not starting.
Anyone have any ideas? Glow plug issue? Fuel injection issue? I would appreciate any help.
I am not sure it could be a glow plug issue, because if it was it probably still wouldn't start when you play with the throttle. If I had to guess fuel injectors could be clogging when truck sets, maybe,I dont know. I run Lucas fuel injector through my 7.3L injector every 1,000mi.Any other problems???
