So as most of you know, ive been having hpop issues. I called the dealer and got a quote of 909.44 to replace it; parts and labor. So i tow my truck in and talk to a rep and tell him what i need done. He says he wants his "guys" to look at it first and will give me a call the next day. Up to this point i never signed anything and was never told i'd be charged 105.00 for them to have my truck there.
So the next day(today) rolls around and i get a quote for 2000.00!!! So i tell them no thanks and said i will have my truck towed out. I was told it will be 105.00 for them keeping it. Does this sound a little crazy to you? No one ever told me, nor did i sign anything that stated i'd be charged this fee. I got towed there because I was willing to pay the 909.00 i was quote, not 2 grand.
Some of the guys will help you, but no I wouldn't pay anything. They are required to advise you of any charges up front. I also wouldn't pay almost $1000 to get an HPOP R&R. You can buy a brand new one for almost less than half that.
Yeah, im towing my truck out tomorrow and uninstall the hpop. I'm going to have Joey fix my hpop for me and just reinstall myself. I'm really grateful to be surrounded by so many helpful members
I believe they can actually charge you a fee for looking at the truck, but when you agreed to have it looked at because the price was alot lower that they quoted you.. that I wouldnt pay either.
Sounds like a normal diagnosis charge to me. But they should have told you before you left it there. Tell them you were willing to drop the 909 but they boned themselves with the 2k price. ******.
Hmm okay. Well i brought my truck in expecting to pay around a grand. Also, i told them exactly what i wanted done, yet he insisted that his guys look at it. Never did he tell me i was going to be charged. Bascially what they told me needed to be done, was exactly what i told them i wanted done in the first place. LOL
I hate dealerships, and I'll be the first one to flame them. But did you really expect anyone to take a look at a vehicle and not charge you for their time? Especially a dealership, they won't do anything for free. Anyway, they should have run a diagnostic, for whatever that's worth, so you should demand the results of what they found. That's what you paid for.
Fair enough i guess. The service rep was really misleading then. I went in telling him what i wanted done and what i was quoted over the phone for the job and says "Well, i still want my guys to look at it, dont worry about it, ill give you a call tomorrow with what they find."
