08 Test Drive

As the title sugests I took an 08 with a V10 out for a test drive today. What a geat truck, I was impressed and what a pleasure to drive and the asking price wasn't to bad either $30,000+gst. I has 40,000kms on it and like I said all the bells and whistles.

Those are pretty nice trucks!

I gotta admit though, I took a 08 diesel dually for a spin the other day (was at greenlight auto) and I didnt find the truck a whole lot different then my own, or different from the 05-07 generations.

Maybe i need some more seat time!

Sheldon, there is no comparisson between the 08+ trucks and previous models. Older ones feel crude in comparisson...

I mean there definatly is a difference. I thought there was gonna be a huge difference though, and I gotta be honest, i didnt feel like it was HUGE. I didnt feel like my old 03, or the few 05/06 trucks i have taken for test drives were THAT much worse!

Keep in mind when I take a truck on a test drive, its usually only a half hourish ride to, thats why I said maybe i need some more seat time!

I only have 35000 kms on my 2008 but there is no other truck that feels like this one does. My 2003 was very nice too, especially with the Lariat 'LE' appointments, but this one has the interior quality that was always referred to as the car-like interior of the Chevy when comparissons were done. The noise level is so much less...
I make 40000 kms / year and have always had loaded up trucks since I was young - never kept one more than five years since I was working at the mine until now. I am passionate about my vehicles, as my daily driver/work truck also doubles as my personal interest vehicle. I always do comparissons, have no brand preference, and with my **** demands about what I expect, will give anything a boot or salute as required.
Most of my friends have similar aged diesels of all brands and we make many miles so getting the feel of all of them really gets scrtutinzed, especially on a long sled trip or any other road trip with jave/baileys in attendance and radar detectors and scaners on high alert...
The leaf spring front ends really feel rattly to me now, as tne coils introduced in 2005 made a big improvment in the SD's.
Have I ever mentioned that my brother's chipped 2005 Dmax has never had one minute of drivetrain repair...
With the front torsion springs turned up about 2.5" and air bags with big tires, I really really like that truck!!!

It was a crewcab sb, lariat and had pretty much all the options. The cab was very queit and it was a windy day yesterday and it handled just like a car I was very impressed with that. It is the nicest 4X4 I have driven by a long shot.

I was surprised, I took it up a hill and did a few high speed passes and it just kept on going. I never did run out of gas pedal.

What amazes me everytime is the grace and gentlness the motor gives off for a feel, compared to my roomates 4 or 6 cylinder cars or even a 8 cylinder the V10is just soo smooth no matter what conditions.

I noticed that too, the motor never made a fuss no matter what I did.

I went for about 30 miles and it didn't move much at all. I was on half when I left and it was just under when we got back.

Ive only driven Ryans, but his is a really nice truck.

If I could afford to have a gasser like that right now, i would like a SD with a v10, over anything else Im probably gonna get.

Only thing I wouldnt like is the fuel mileage.
