First Diesel

i just bought my first diesel, a 1994 F250 7.3L 5spd 4x4 ext cab long bed, i got it with 240,000 miles and a blown power steering pump, which ive already fixed, but is there anything else i should be expecting or problems that i will face soon, i need to know because i dont make much money and work has me working in the middle of night so i need to be able to plan now. any ideas or suggestions would be great, plus its great to have found a site that is dedicated to one company so im not having to deal with people's bias of dodge or chevy

I would recommend taking off the clutch cover and seeing if it is cutting into the back of your oil pan. It probably is. Grind down the lip on the cover if it is to prevent it from cutting through.
It's a good year model truck but there are a few common problem spots. Auto factory hubs suck!
Check all of your fluids. The transmission calls for Synthetic mercon ATF. I use mobil 1 synthetic in mine since you can't get the motorcraft anymore.

If you are having problems shifting then tell us about it. There are several easy fixes for it.

Welcome to FTE!
You'll find a ton of info here and the links posted above will get you off to a good start.
Don't be fooled by all the "problems" you see people posting. Our trucks are reliable, yet subject to mechanical failure in any of the various and numerous mechanical systems just like any other vehicle. You mostly will see problems/questions reported because folks don't normally post how great their vehicle is running.

I'm posting about how great my truck is running!!!!!! No, seriously, like said, they break down just like any other. The trouble is that they usually decide to break down when you don't want them to. Your half way home pulling a important load, the sun is starting to go down and then.......! Trying to plan ahead is just guessing. The best plan is a good plan of maintance. Wellcome

X2 what Glenn said.

Mine has 235,000 miles on it and it is the most reliable vehicle I own. I have only broke down on the side of the road 1 time and it was after a modification that I performed.LOL

Welcome to FTE. There is a wealth of info here. If you like it, you can check out a local chapter and become part of the FTE family.

mine is sitting at 303k miles and i tear the chit outta it!! haha. runs great. read through those links to get an idea on what to check on it to start off. might get a new CPS(cam position sensor) just to stick in the glove box for when yours goes out. its around $30 at ford so not too bad. they go out randomly on our trucks.
