Ok guys, I really need your help. I have a 2005 F250 PS 6.0. As you may know, it recently got very cold here in FL. Well one of the mornings on my way out, the truck gave me a hard time starting, it would turn over and turn completely off.. after reading some of the forums on here. It seems like it may be a Glow Plug/glow plug module issue? as i read further it said to plug it in over night, well that trick worked great (truck started perfectly the next morning at 28 degrees), but i really doubt you should have to plug the heater in at 30 degrees?? i have heard of people starting without the heater at 0 degrees with no trouble. So i decide to take the truck to my local ford dealer for a diagnostic checkup. Well they proceed to tell me its the FICM (fuel injection control module) and want to charge $1200 to fix. So if it was really the FICM would it only show up on cold starts, when i started it this morning some black smoke came out of the exhaust and the truck kind of sputtered for a few seconds than seemed roll right into that sweet diesel sound. does this sound like a FICM issue? or more of a glow plug.module? i would imagine if it was the FICM it would affect the truck at all times of the day. Once the motor is hot it seems to start and run normal the rest of the day. I also put a code reader on it aswell and was not able to pull any DTC codes. Your inputs would be greatly appreciated.
