Trailer Wiring Harness ?
I have a 98 F-250 that has a 7 pin wire harness with the connector cut off. My question is can I use the existing 7 wire harness to "wire in' a 4 pin flat connector? Thanks for your insight!

I don't see why you couldn't. Trailer Wiring Diagrams will give you all the info you need as to colors and their function, just scroll down a little bit and it gives the MANUFACTURERS color codes so no probing with a test light. This is a VERY informative site, and you can get ALL the info and MOST parts you would need for trailer towing.

You can do this, if you are careful with your colors or are good with a meter. You can also replace the seven pin and then use a 7 - 4 pin adapter, which would provide you the option of going to a seven pin at some point in future. I would replace the seven pin and then adapt, if it were me.
