Has anyone installed either one of these kits on their Expy?
I am interested in improving the performance of the trans a bit, I am going with the RV/Heavy duty option, over the street/strip, because I dont need to chirp tires or break U-joints.
I just want a slightly firmer shift, and the trans to respond a bit quicker to my "downshift and accelerate" requests
I have a hypertech power programmer, and it firms up the shifts a bit, but does nothing for the downshifting or "crisping up" of the trans performance.
Thanks for any info.
If you hold on a few days, I can let you know. I am installing a B&M shift improver kit either tomorrow or Thurs. I called B&M, and if you have the E4OD tranny, the only difference between the shift improver kit and the transpak is the transpak comes with the filter and seal. The Transkit you refer to is basically an entire transmission rebuild kit, and is only available for the C4 and C6 trannies. Either route (shift improver or transpak), the results are basically the same.
I am also changing all the fluid with B&M Synthetic Trick Shift, so I will let you know how well it turns out. I do have the E4OD.
I was planning on doing this before my wife left for Florida, but my tranny line on my Bronco broke and it spilled fluid all over the road. I got home and decided that it needed it more, so I put the shift improver in my Bronco's E4OD, which is identical to my Expy's. It shifts firm and quick now, and you can feel the difference. The biggest pain in installing the kit is getting the seperator plate back in with all the check ***** in the correct place. There was 10 in there. You also need to install a resistor pack between two wires in the module harness, which is also a pain due to limited space and short wires.
I will be performing this procedure on my Expy in about 3 weeks upon my wife's return I will post info when I do that one, but it looks like the exhaust is much closer to the tranny, providing less room to work with.
