looking for a sub box for behind the rear seat of an 08 cc non power slider. i would like to keep the jack and mount the amp on the wall behind pass seat. anny suggestion on which and where?
MTX Thunderforms, they are vehicle specific and can come with subs installed or empty. Also you can order ones that are pre-amped and pre loaded with subs. Crutchfield will have everything you need. Put the underseat thunderform in my supercab with two 10" subs and a 500watt 2 channel amp. This setup hits real nice and can handle as low as a 2ohm impedence.
the thunderform wont fit under my seat because i have the fold out floor option. i was looking for one behind the rear seat. supercrew has one but i dont know anything about them.....
Carpet needs to be cut along the back of the cab in a crew cab. Not sure of the super. The thing rocks pretty hard but it's not the kind of bump that will be heard by others at traffic lights.
It's not a pretty install but I did it in a hotel parking lot one day when I was laid over.
It's the CompVTsub enclosure, 10" just like Kicker makes. It comes as 1 unit. all you have to do is hook it to an amp, hook the amp to a line level converter that makes the speaker wire signal into an RCA plug. Get it at WalMart. I got the amp and WalMart too. $100 for a 600W amp. Can't beat it. Factory head unit.
Crutchfield sells the Kicker sub/enclosure. If you look at the pic of the label it states the specs.
Here's a link to a thread I started on it a few months back. I would highly recommend the box from Super Crew. If I was you I'd mount it behind the drivers side and then just move your jack to the other side. The boxes are made for the drivers side and the jack could easily be moved over. Good Luck
thanks brandon. your post was great. are you still satisfied with your box? i think i will get it. it mounts behind the driver and goes over into the center right? a little past the center seat belt? now to decide on the subs.
Yes I am still very satisfied with the entire setup. It all fit really nice and the sound is great. As you said it sits on the drivers side and then the second sub sits more in the middle of the rear seat with a cut out made to allow for the center seat belt. You do have to remove your jack but I just took mine and threw it in my locking tool box in the back. There would be plenty of room on the passengers side if you wanted to move it over there but I couldn't be bothered to do it. You will need shallow mount subs with the box from Super Crew, nothing over 5.25" deep if I remember right. There are lots of choices and I did some serious research before I settled on the ones I got. They are a little pricier than most but you get what you pay for when it comes to stereo components & speakers.
thanks for the info. i think i will go in this direction as well. your amp- is it wired mono or stereo, and what watt. i had 2 10's with an orian 280watt amp in my last box (02) but i also have a profile 400 w mon amp? i dont know a lot about sbs-amps sorry....
The amp that I have is a mono amp with the subs being wired in series. It is a 600w amp and able to provide the constant power that the subs require. Mono amps simply mean they only have the 1 set of outputs but you can still wire them to multiple subs by wiring them in series. I've run lots of different setups and amps and subs over the years but this has to be the cleanest sounding and hardest hitting system that I have had. I have also run ported and non ported boxes and I must say that I prefer the non ported box as it is a cleaner bass with less distortion. If you have any more questions I would suggest you email the guys at SuperCrew or at Crutchfield as they have advisors that are there to simply answer any questions you might have. Good Luck
A company called ProBox makes some custom enclosures that appear to be quite nice. Ford also offers a factory box that is installed on my 2008 King Ranch, could stand to be a better performer but it doesn't do bad. I do have the power slider but I would think that it would work the same either way. I didn't include the link for the ProBox site because I wasn't sure it was allowed but you should be able to find them easily.
Yeah I had the factory box and I think a few of the other guys have the same, we were just looking for a little more than the factory system could put out.
I replaced the rack with a 13 inch preformed subwoofer box. It is quite loud and I can still use the space behind my seats for stuff. I don't miss the rack like I thought I would either. The only issue I have with it is the drivers side seat sit up a little higher than the smaller side.
