Stalls while slowing
My 1990 F150 seems to have an intermittent stalling issue. I think it may be related to the vacuum system, but I haven found anything wrong with it yet.
Yesterday, I drove it about fifteen miles and was slowing from about 60 mph to make a turn when the engine stalled. It was a little hairy because I lost both the boost for the brakes and power steering! It started right up, and I drove another three miles, and it stalled once more...same thing, as I slowed down. Any ideas what could be causing this?
If it is the vacuum system I have tried checking it using a hose and funnel like a stethoscope, listening for a hissing noise. I also tried spray carb cleaner around on the hoses and valve at the brake booster to see if the engine sound changed. Nothing found, yet. I have also inspected the hoses visually. Are there other ways to check the vacuum system?
Any thoughts about what I can do to alleviate this stalling would be appreciated.
