Is This Common....
Hey all,
I was working on a customers 99 Ranger Sport 4x4 and found both the rear spring shackles were broken. I called my local Ford dealer and they told me the only way to get the shackles is to buy the springs...
Can I just buy the shackles and hardware or do I have to buy the springs too?
If I can only buy the springs to get shackles is there a good set with an extra leaf or 2, not looking to lift looking for a little extra load capability, its got a cap and he carries his tools in the back all the time.

I got my hangers & Brackets ( Front & Rear of the springs, both sides ) even new bolts for everything from my local ford dealer all for about $150. I think your dealer is trying to make a BIG sale.

this is a common issue with these trucks. You do not have to replace the the leafsrping just the hanger and shackles.I just did my truck a 2wd a few months ago. I am pretty sure you could use the same part. Dorman 722-010 Dorman 722-010. But make sure you check. Rockauto has them for about $35 as a kit. so about $70 plus shipping.
there is a lot of threads about replacing them. I would recomend removing the bed if you can. Ths will make the whole process easier. if you have any questions feel free to ask.
if it is just the shackles they are about $20 each at rockauto. you prob could keep the bed on if it is just the shackles and not the hangers also.

Just need the shackles,
The hangers are good, I can get to the with the truck on the lift fairly easily so I will not remove the bed. Thanks for the Dorman part numbers I will give them to my car quest guy and see if he can order them.
