If you pick an option and do a test vote, it also changes the look.

I try to make poll "HEADERS" (the question blank) a picture no wider than 740 pixels

Poll option pictures I've had good luck with at 480 pixels wide

I think most people have their monitors set to 1024 by 768. That's a standard image size - but their browser windows also take up some of that space. The left side margin is only about 5 pixels, but the slider on the right is around 15 or 20, plus another 5 for the margin. So right there we lose about 30 pixels of width...

With 800 by 600 the next smaller standard image size, I tend to go with 800 wide by however much the new height dimension of a re-sized picture is as the standard for underneath the polls. This also tends to keep the finished picture file sizes within the 97.7 KB spec for albums, but the file size has to be looked at anyway - it's the last thing I check when saving my work to an upload directory.

Pictures uploaded to albums that are within the 1024 by 768 limit but are bigger files than 97.7 kb are automatically "shrunk" during the upload, so what you thought was the perfect size you may suddenly find doeen't fit!

I have expended some of my most colorful language behind the scenes here when things like that happened...

I may also be able to cut you a copy of fireworks to ship to you - it's an older program, but it still does a heck of a job. My copy is Dreamweaver/Fireworks 3, which is no longer current by about seven versions of it, so I doubt anybody woukl sue me for sharing it.

Shucks - as far as that goes, if they really did catch all of the young hackers who had downloaded a trial version of it and turned loose a key generator on it, they would no longer have to sell it in stores because they'd be making too much money with lawsuits.
