04 Throttle butterfly question

I am installing an 06 engine in my 04. My 04 has the throttle butterfly and the 06 does not. Can I eliminate the butterfly and just use the 06 elbow or do I need to swap the butterfly to the 06? I am using my 04 wiring harness. Also, is there a standard size thread for the EGT probe? I have not ordered the EGT guage yet but would like to drill and tap the manifold while I have the engine out.

the 06 elbow will work fine.. your 06 PCM won't have any programming for the butterfly, and only the earliest 03/04 flashes utilize it..

1/8th" NPT is the most common size for the EGT thermocouple..

No PCM change, I am using all my 04 wiring harness and FICM. Original engine is later style 04 with the ICP sensor on the valve cover. Current flash is 12-06 I believe.

you're fine.. the butterfly is the last thing to worry about with the swap..

When I did my egr delere, I removed that plate from my 04. What if any effect did that have?

the throttle body is supposed to help EGR flow when the motor's spinning slow, and decrease warm up time.. removing it doesn't really help, nor hurt..
