just got the opportunity to get a set of rims and tires for 250, tires arent in great shape, and probably will only last a couple more thousand miles, rims are 16.5 diameter...question is...am I going to be able to find 33 inch tires to fit the rims when the tires that are on it are done? I've been looking online and cant seem to find many 16.5 diameter tires....
I dont know if i can run 35's or not, held my buddies 35's up to my truck and there was still a good couple of inches of clearance around them....not sure if that would make much difference if i could run 35's or not...
any answer would be great seeing as I have till tomorrow afternoon to let him know or not..
Have you tried the tirerack, they have an add somewhere around here.. I just looked and I'm not getting any hits on 16.5 tires, not sure what size the other demensions are. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/TireSe...=16.5&x=23&y=7
checked tire rack, they have a set of dunlops and bfg T/A's in a 16.5....my question is more whether its worth paying the 250 for basically a set of rims that have a limited tire selection...
also, when i bought the truck the PO told me that it had a leveling kit on it, I cant tell however whether he's BS'n me or not...any easy ways to tell? it looks level, but that could just be the 33's.... I think it would fit 35's....but thats just from holding one up in the wheel well, not actually putting it on the truck and checking steering and everything...if i can fit 35's i probably will go ahead and get the wheels, because there are a few more options for 35" size
About your rim exchange, If there's not alot of options, then no, I wouldn't. Some of these off tire sizes the manufactures are weening away from because theres not alot of demand. Thats what I read a while back. As for your leveling kit, do you have any front shackles like this if you do, thats a leveling kit. Other leveling kits are mini spring packs, above your front axle, you'll see about maybe 4 little springs then your stock springs, usually two stock springs unless an add a springs been added, so theres three options.
I have 3 leafs up front...so if i'm understanding you right this would mean i DO have a leveling kit? if so it would seem that i might be able to fit 35's?
the wheels come with tires, but 2 of them are way low, and 2 are probably at about 50%. it seems like a really good deal to me, but the tough part is looking down the road at buying new tires and whether i will have any options or whether i will just be throwing 250 or 200 down the drain

Mines a 250 so two leafs for me If you have three leafs then you have a add a leaf, not sure what stock 350's have, you have a 250 right??

IMO, I would steer away from those size rims if there not many tire options, might be why your friend wants to trade, give you the headacke of finding new tire, your call.
Yea I have a 250 and it has 3 leafs up front. I have a friend whos 250 has 4 (i think...i just remember thinking that mine looked way skinny compared to his)....I think i'm gonna end up going with the rims... afterall i'll still have my stockers, and after further research i found that BFG still makes a 33 and 35 16.5 inch tire, which is priced fairly reasonably...so even if i only get the use of these tires and then buy one more set of tires on these rims that saves me money. I figure a new set of rims, no matter what size will cost me at least 500 bucks, so for half that i'm getting a set of rims and tires.
As for the leveling kit, i'll take a picture tomorrow if i can and get it on here to comfirm, but if i have an add-a-leaf then whats the largest tires i can fit? can i put shackles on it?
I'm 285-75-16 which equates to a 33 inch tire. Check first about the add a leaf, you might not want to do a shackle over that, take some pics and we'll go from there.
I never understood the 16.5" wheel. It's a ******* size that for some reason is still around. You can get tires for it almost anywhere but they are more expensive usually. I wouldn't get them for that reason alone. The other reason is the bead on a 16.5" wheel is different than others. It is more sloped and isn't as strong as the more common 15-18" wheels. The bead is easier to break in off road situations.
thanks guys thats kinda where i'm at right now. Great deal, but too bad on the 16.5's after a quick search online i can find decent size and better looking wheels online for only like a hundred more so i'm fine with passing up this deal
