Original Plug Wires

Hello Everyone,
I'm going to do a tune up on my 78 f100 351m/6.6L. It looks like it still may have original motorcraft duraspark wires. I've tried searching but have come up empty. I can only find the black wires. Anyone out there know where to find the same blue/w oringe boots, 8mm wires?

I have tried many wire sets. I have found for me that Accels are the best nonexpensive wire you can get. I have them on all three of my old Fords. They are a good looking wire to.

If its a 6.6 it's a 400 not a 351m which is a 5.8. Not that it matters for plug wires. They would be the same.

Check with your Ford Dealer, they may still have Motorcraft wires avaliable for your engine on order.

You could also do a resistance test with your old wires. Those silicone wires had a lifetime warrantee, and they still might be good.

Spark Plug Wire Resistance, less than 5000 Ohms per inch. Any more than that and they need to be replaced.

The engine is correct. This truck is very original. I have the build sheet. It has a 351m/6.6L/400cid. This is also stated on the information sticker on the divers side valve cover.

I will check the wire resistivity and if everything is good I will stick with them but I would like to buy a second set just in case. People get blown away when they see the original wires with the 1978 date on the wires. Thanks everyone for the information.

If anyone has an extra set for sale, let me know...

I also agree that NPD has the set you are looking for. They are reproductions of the original ones. I got a catalog from them on the trucks, also you can go online at NPDLink | National Parts Depot to view an online catalog or order one for free and they will mail to you. Good luck and happy hunting. Kel.

351M=351 CI 5.8 liter

400=400 CI (technically 402) 6.6 liter.

They are basically identical except for stroke. Which one do you have?

Since the wire set is still available from Ford, where do y'all think NPD is buying them from? A Motorcraft jobber is the answer.

D7PZ12259CR .. Spark Plug Wire Set (Motorcraft WR3926A)

Available from Ford / Fits: 1977/79 F100/350 / 1978/82 Bronco / 1980/82 F150/350 & Econoline / All with 351M's & 400's.

MSRP: $84.86 // FTE Ford Dealer Parts Dept sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM price: $37.68.

No comprende usted. What do you mean by original 1978 or 1979?

This is the original and correct wire set sold at the Ford parts counters beginning in model year 1977 (began 9/1976), when the 351M/400's were first installed in these trucks.

The original wires came with the year of which they were made on each one. The service replacement set usually never had the year on them.

My 73 F100 had the original wires on it when I bought it but all it said on the wires was Motorcraft I believe. I still got them laying around somewhere I will take a look.

I had a 75 extended cab with a 360 which had "1975" written on the wires.
