I did a search but cant find the thread.....
Someone was having trouble with there trailer lights not working right.
My tailight/headlights work on both sides but my signal/brake lights only work on 1 side.
My question is ......is there more than 1 fuse for the trailer plug.
Like would only half go out or are both sides on one fuse?
I cant remember off hand, I can check tomorrow, but you can turn each sides turn signal on, and then check the trailer plug and make sure two of them are flashing. Just to verify you dont have an element out on one/more of your bulbs.
IIRC there are seperate fuses left to right. And the trailer ones ARE seperate from the truck ones. (why I said check the plug with test light, like you did) Get your manual out, and find the blown fuse. If you dont have a manual, I can check tomorrow for you.

Ill try the manual so more in the morning.
I didnt havbe any luck with it so far.
it was me having a prob. turned out to be a bad plug on the truck side. took it apart and the pins were grossly corroded. my elec brakes and brake lites were not working, but truck was fine.
your tail and brake lites are on same wire. so if one side is down, it would be side specific.
ironically, when i first started troubleshooting, my 30amp maxi was blown, upper top left (iirc), and i replaced it thinking that was it, but it wasnt good luck
The brake and turn signals are on the same wire not the tail
I have had a problem several times with the plug on the back of the 7 pin conector where it plugs into the tow harness on the truck. Was a lot of corrosion on several pins.At first I never knew it existed
It looks like there is only 1 fuse that runs the turn signals and seeing how half of mine work I guess that rules out the fuse.
You should have two Stop/Turn fuses for the TRAILER only. IIRC all of these trucks came with a "tow package" which included separately fused lights for the trailer.

Ours don't all come with everything. A lot of the wiring is in place, but part of a "Tow Package" is a harness and a little "doghouse" containing two additional relays to complete the wiring for the package. The two added relays are for trailer backup lamps, and trailer battery charge. There are also a couple of fuses to be installed.
At least it's that way for your '99 and my 2000. Ken's 2002 is a little different, as he has no under-hood fuse/relay box.
When a Tow Package is complete, all electrical signals that exit the seven-pin trailer connector are "buffered" by and supplied through relays that are controlled by the relative signals used on the truck. Thus, a mis-wired trailer can short fuses and even burn up relays (though it shouldn't), but the truck's basic electrical system should not be affected.
