I had a steering gearbox replaced a lil over a year ago and have been noticing alot of freeplay on my steering wheel. Seems like about 5 or 6 in of movement left to right before its actually making my wheels turn. Is there a way to adjust this issue or do I need a new gearbox?
I think that's BS but I've heard good things about other people adjusting the gearboxes so I would try that first. I have my 250 in the shop right now for the same issue. The mechanic I'm forced to take the truck to, (company truck), says he won't adjust them due to past problems after doing them. Knowing this guy he probably screwed them up. lol I had every linkage, ball joint and tie rod end replaced in June and it's been great as of late but went south quick. Now he's saying the dual Rancho stabilizer I put on wore the pitman arm and a tie rod out. Sorry if it seemed like I was hijacking.

????????? WHAT ???????? thats crazy If anything I would think it helps reducing the amount of back and forth playing of the wheel and sudden jolts from uneven surfaces that the steering stabalizer prevents? Maybe I am wrong, But ford put them on some trucks from the factory didnt they?
