so ive said the hell with buying my mud truck this spring and have decicded to get more bang outa my 96 4.9. the question i have is would it be logical to get some work done to the head including to porting? if so what kind of gains do you think i could see?

If you're in the meets/competition - a 460 transplant on 'pane.
If you're doing some wheeling you got one of the best things goin as is. A lill tractor right there (wish I had 1).
Running stock pcm I think it can only handle a 15% power increase or something like that so there is not much you can really do. Unless you upgrade to megasquirt or something of that fashion.
Yeah, wuz thinkin 'breathin' (in AND out) and you hit the "in" (Fuel Inj). How bout "out" or does he already have the efi exhaust?
Also electricity: how bout ignition, dizzy/other upgrades.

Cool, every thing get a little old in our recyclers (too refined around here - not aloud to call them junk yard/pic n pull) goes to the crusher. Those items might B in one or 2 yrds around here/worth a p/u for sale - or "later" home use.
ive got an msd coil, single 3" exhaust with a super 44, knn replacement filter (it pisses me off they dont make a true cold air intake for the 300 or i'd have gotten it already. then again ill prolly make a custom one) thats all thats done to it other than tune ups and oil changes. got the stock 3.08 gearin im thinkin bout goin to 3.73
