I thought I'd start a thread for people looking to buy one. Every vehicle I've owned for over 20 years has been big enough for me to sleep in when I go camping, one way or the other, from a Taurus wagon to a Chrysler minivan to my current mode, a F150 with a homemade wooden shell on the back. Now that I'm retired I spend at least a month a year on the road, camping out while I visit relatives scattered all over the country. In the summer of 2006 I spent 3 months camping out. I would virtually never have more than one passenger at a time. I've always wanted a panel truck for my way of life and the TC is the closest thing to that.
The basic basic TC MSRP $21730 looks ideal for my purposes, with one exception, no speed control. This is only available at the price level of an XLT which is about $1400 more. Even if I could negotiate a steep discount, I suspect the difference would still be in that range. Are there any other possibilities?
