Had some time to kill yesterday so was crusing around town and ran accross something that caught my eye. A 1970 something crew cab F-600 (grill looked like the 1972 wheat truck I drove as a kid). Snow was still drifted along the hood, top of the cab and in through an open (or missing) side back glass so difficult to tell the exact year. There was a tree trimmer business and number on the door from a town 200 miles away so doubt it is the current owner. It has been well used and is pretty rough but was parked on the street so assume it is currently licensed and running. I took a few phone shots but did not get them uploaded last night, stay tuned. Just unusual to see one of the old crewcabs made before 4 doors were the norm.
There were crewcab pickups in the early 70's, But like jowilker said the larger ones were used by ralroads I'm not sure when the fords first came out but dodge built a large one in the early to mid 60's that I know one.
Yeah, I think the first Ford factory crewcab was a '65, Dodge and International maybe before that, does not help that a the Binder and MoPar looked 10 years older than they were. Seems like there was an early dodge crewcab parked just off the interstate near Wentzville Missouri for years, last time I was through there it was gone. The earlier the year seemed like the 1 ton crews were the most common, part of why the F600 caught my eye. Thaws out a little I might go back and check it out closer.
The early 60's fords pickups some only had one door on the back my coisin had a 350 like that and it seens like it was a 63 but not sure and they were not very common at all.
