Head Light Issues....HELP?
Okay, I've got a 1985 F-150 that I've been working on restoring. Well, I got the truck back to the body shop. The truck did have two running lights on the roof, well I had the body shop remove them and weld up the roof. Now I got the truck back, The head lights will not come on.
In fact, when it turn on the headlight switch, the blue high beam indicator light comes on even if I turn the high beams off or on, and still nothing coming on with the headlights...........Its driving me crazy, I'm to the point now to where I can drive the truck again while its being worked on but need this fixed so I can drive at night.
I'm confused.

I'm thinking that possibly when the removed the rood running lights and just cut the wires, that it possibly broke the circuit somewhere, but I'm not sure. I guess I'll just keep tracing and looking, if anyone thinkgs they can help me with this problem, please post up.

The roof running lights should have a connector behind the drivers side kick pannel,brown wire if I remember corectly.the head lights should be on a seperate circuit from the head lights.I would unplug the high beam switch and find out if there is power at the plug,should be red yellow wire.if there is power,jumper it out to one of the other plugs,if the light come on the switch is defective.

There is a wire connector in the drivers rear cab corner that feeds the lightts on top of the truck, I'd unhook it so you donrt get a short were you cut the wires. It wont have anything to do w/ your headlight problem though. A bad headlight switch or dimmer switch could cause your problem (among other things) check the dimmer switch first, its easier to get to. The plugs tend to fail as much as the switch itself. With the headlight sw on you should have power to the dimmer

I just wanted to say thanks guys for helping me out. I went to o'reillys auto parts and got a new dimmer switch. put in in and what do you know. I have working headlights again.....
