I now have a theory that every order to Summit over $400 will result in supplier errors. Anything less never a problem.
DJM complete kit, open the box - two driver side beams.
Friday my new Wheel Vintiques came. all excited - 15x7 fronts, 15x8 rears, ribbed trim rings, '48 style caps. One of the rears was a 5x5 not a 5x5.5 bolt pattern. Box had the correct numbers, someone at Wheel Vintiques slipped in the wrong rim.
None of it Summits fault, but with the DJM issue I had to contact DJM directly. They were a dream to work with.
Let see what I have to do to get the wheel corrected.
Think when it is time I better order the performer manifold and the edelbrok carb on TWO seperate orders to keep it under $400.
My experience with Summit has been if there is an issue with the purchase they will either immediately refund, or send a replacement with no questions asked. Heard simular from other Summit shoppers.
Dang.. I got my DJM kit and haven't even looked to see if the two are the same or different. How do I know by looking at them? I haven't even looked under the truck yet either...
So from this picture can you tell if they are the same side or how can you tell if they are for opposite sides? They look identical to me but I thought that's how they should be.
I will admit that my DJM beams didn't look exactly precision but I laid out my old stock I beams right next to the new DJM I beams and the cant and location of the king pin holes matched up with the stock I beams. I marked my old I Beams Left and Right before I pulled them out which made it easy to match up to the new DJM I beams for proper installation.
I can't tell from the photo - when you lay the two DJM beams side by side the king pin side should tilt opposite from one another. On the truck, the kingpin side tilts toward the back of the truck. So on mine the driver side was correct, but the passenger side tilted towards the front of the truck. Stock beams do not tilt.
Just got my confirmation on the rim shipment - they shipped the wrong rim!!! so now I have two more rims on the charge card plus the original four rims and accessories. I hope they get this all straighten out before the bill comes in.
Ahhh man.. Now you got me wondering... I will take another photo when I get home. Just from looking at them, they looked identical from top to bottom. The hole looks like it is right in the middle though. They don't look like they are off-set or anything. I'll try to get another pic up so you can let me know if you can. Thanks again.
it is only a few degree tilt back where the king pin slides in. Breeze to install. Just replace all your bushing at this time. The hardest ones to replace for me where the ones behind the radius arms, under the cab floor. I even replaced the coils. Instructions should point out there is a left and right beam.
I can't wait to see the stance once I get rid of the 255-60 tires on 8 inch rims on the front, cutting down to 15x7 with 215-70. Right now I can barely get my fingers between the fender lip and the tire.
overlandexpress - I saw your post before with the tire sizes which is why I will follow your lead with a 215 on the front. I have the rear DJM drop but haven't installed it yet because I really like the stance it has now, but once the smaller tires are on I'll probably install the rear drop. That is if Summit ever gets the right wheels delivered...BTW geat job on yours
Hey thanks! I also put a set of 15 X 10" wheels on back with 275/60R15 tires and it looked bad *** with just enough clearance, but the problem was if I had a flat I would have to jack the truck up by the frame to get the wheel off due to the minimal
clearance between the tire and wheel well. It just seemed to unsafe to change a flat on the side of the road with traffic flying by. Heres a picture with the 15 X 10 wheels on back.
