Flip up tonneau?

My Dad is looking at a flip up vinyl tonneau from Extang.

It is this one:

Going on this truck:

Does anyone have any experience with this cover, either the snapped or snapless version?

The reason that we're considering this one, is becasue he has a 5th wheel for the back, and this cover will be easy for him to remove to get to it. He's 73 years old, and the Plastic covers are a bit heavy, and the fiberglass ones, well, yeah. We tried the garage lift, been there, done that before. This one will be a lot simpler to use...

Thoughts? Pics?

Thanx!

I've installed a few of those. The four rails get bolted together with small cross braces, so the rear (tail gate) bar isn't as easy to remove as the other models. The cover uses a C type hinge, I believe the C is on the bed and must slide inside the covers rails to put it on and take it off. It's not as easy as say the undercovers to remove and install, but it's not bad once you get the hang of it.

Thanks ReAX,

I think my Dad would remove it maybe 10 times a year. Do you think there would be issues with oxidation getting everything to release, or fit together?

Do you have a link to the undercover you'd recommend? If there is a better option, I can let him know. I just want something light for him to work with, he's still pretty able, just not as nimble as he used to be...

Undercover ™ is the new standard in tonneau covers. Our Patented X-effect ™ design and advanced polymers give this tonneau cover unparalleled strength and durability at a fraction of the weight and less cost than fiberglass. should work. It's still about 60lbs, but a great cover.

I believe extang anodizes their aluminum so corrosion should be very limited, but I'm only familiar with how they hold up in Florida. The hinge is simple enough not much can go wrong with it.

Thanks ReAX, I sent my dad the link to check it out. I think it looks good, if he's ok with the weight.
