yeah i just want to see what it is like with out any major restrictions. that y is a T and it blows donkey *****. I just want to be able to possibly pull a burn out from a stop without being on a wet metal burn out plate LMAO!
I took a look today because of this thread. It looks like it'll be a real PITA to route an exhaust pipe down the driver's side. My exhaust comes down from the exhaust manifolds couples into one and then splits again and there are two exhaust pipes running parallel with one another down the passenger side of the truck. One pipe broke off around 3/4 of the way and the other has a turn-down tip.
i think i am just going to have dual 3 in pipes down the passenger side. from where the drivers side pipe takes the turn to the passenger side i am going to run at a nicer angle to the passenger side and then run parallel down the side. I am going to just run them out the side with chrome tips but here is the question, will the exit times of smoke be different? If so i need to find a dual 3 inch into single 4 inch connector. Problem is where the hell do i find that? hahaha
i was just wondering because i like the way it blasts it out in one good jet. If it was in two different timed events i wouldnt think that was nearly as cool. How can i run two pipes like that into one?
condensing two 3inchers into a four would be a chore i am thinking. i would have to condense the two 3 in pipes down a lot to get them both into one 4in pipe.
The crossover equalizes pressure on both sides and doesn't allow a resonating effect to go back up into your manifolds into the heads. IIRC, you can mess up the motor w/o a cross over pipe. I'm not sure if it applies to diesels, but I'd imagine it would... Here's a good read on crossover pipes: http://mustangforums.com/forum/2005-...explained.html
I ran my Ramjet 350 w/o a crossover pipe in my Jeep. After the H-pipe was installed, I noticed a significant improvement in overall response, power and it really smoothed out the exhaust.
the power increase over the old system is so profound that i cant imagine i am having any issues. But if i am going to run them side by side i can look into the channel system if i find i am having issues.
The old torinos came with a crossover but I have run duals on everything I have owned for the last 35 years and never put a crossover and got200,000 miles out of nearly everything.
