Ring and Pinion change
If one has never changed a ring and pinion, On a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most difficult, how would you rate changing a ring and pinion.
I have pulled down and overhauled engines before...just never f'd with a differential ring and pinion. I want to change from a 3.08 to a 3.73 in a ford 8.8 and dana 44.
Is this a difficult task? or should I get someone who has done it before to do it. $$$$$ are the problem

Probably in 8.5-9 area. The set up for depth, pattern & preload requires proper tools, and usually some trial and error on the set up. I watched a Ford guy do my 8" on the bench for what seemed like 2 or 3 hours. Since you have integral diffs, you are going to be under the vehicle doing this. Not the best set up for a beginner.
