I'm looking for a '97 PSD truck. I really want a 350 because of the solid front axle but I've found alot more 250s that have the options I want.
Is the solid axle that much better than the 250 IFS(not of the right name for it).
The truck will be used for towing/hauling, hwy driving, 4wheelin and general dicking around.
Don't really care about ride quality as much. Just wondering if it's worth holding out for an F350. I don't exactly have a reputation for going easy on vehicles.
If you don't plan to lift it, the 250 will probably suit you fine. If you intend to plow snow, I'd hold out for the straight axle. The only thing with the ttb in the 250 is it's a little higher maintenance over the long term with that middle u joint in it. Also it can get knocked out of alignment easier than the d60, especially lifted. Having said that, mine has been alright for me in my 250 but I've already had to replace all the u joints in it and ball joints each side. I've got 105k on the truck, mostly highway miles and I don't plow. I'm also looking for a 60 for it though because I wanna put a lift in it.
