do you have a test light ?
No, not here. All my tools are at work. I may have to wait until tomorrow to tackle this...Ill bring home the tools I need, and post what I find.
The ignition seems ok???,but Im not 100% sure just yet.
I got a call back from the Ford diesel mech, and he's sure its the starter...
If it stops turning over when you disconnect the small wire on the fender mounted starter relay. It is most likely not a problem with the starter itself. I' m with ampslw, I say ignitign switch or linkage to the ignition switch.

If I try to start the truck, It will just keep turning over even if I pull the small wire off off the fender solenoid.
If I pull the wire prior to starting, It will not turn over.
Then look at the sarter solenoid,( at the starter ) it may be stuck, sometimes you can tap on the solenoid and it will release. You will need to replace the solenoid, if that is the case

The starter solenoid was replaced a few months back, possibly its just gone bad again....Its had to find good quality parts anymore.
I may just put in a whole new starter.
Thanks, Il give it a try when my neighbor gets home...still waiting on tools
I used to have a neighbor named Dan, whos truck looked alot like yours...wheels too! you ever live in Florida?
No, I wish I did, it was 3 degrees here last night.
Sounds like you've got the prob. narrowed down to the ign. cylinder or switch.

Im thinking starter, I'll narrow it down tomorrow.
Its unusualy cold here this past week too, But not 3 degrees!!!. although Im no stranger to that weather. I lived up by Akron Oh for over 30 years, and Florence Ky for about a year back in the 90's.
I have not one regret moving here...not one. Stay warm, and thanks for your help
Thanks for everyones help
I installed a new starter today and all is normal....actually i bought a rebuilt one first, and of course it was bad....and I went back (again)and bought a new one.
I swear everything I buy I have to return because its cheap crap!
Glad you found the problem. I really don't like to buy re manufactured parts anymore. Buy USA parts if possible and put people back to work. Sometimes hard to do........More taxes is the cure...
Glad to see you got it fixed.
I actually went through something very similar last year. The end of the wire from the batteries to the starter corroded/broke on me one day while away from home. Luckily, I had my wife with and was able to get the truck running again, had to hold the wire to the post on the solenoid while wife turned the key. I went to remove the nut from the solenoid and the whole end broke off. I replaced it with a cheap parts store part and 3 months later, it did exactly what yours did. Ended up getting a new starter too.
