on my 93 f150 my trailer wiring was cut cause it must have hit the corner of metal on the bumper. so i pulled the t-connector and broke to of the connectors from the brake lights. so i need a new wire form brake lights. later that day my abs light was coming on so i figured it was something i shouldn't worry about. then at night i noticed back lights were not on at all. so then figured out i had to have both connectors connected and they worked. i want to get a connector that goes from 4 wire to a 4wire and 7wire combo so i can add trailer brakes later on. does anyone know where i can get those connectors that come from the tail lights of the truck?
So did you break the T connector or the origional connectors on your truck harness? If it is just the t connector then walmart or any parts store will have a replacement, maybe even one with your 7 pin connector already wired to it. if you broke off the connectors on your harness you will probably have to go to a junk yard and cut them off a dead truck.
Your abs light is on probably because you blew the fuse for your brake lights which is the same fuse as your abs. I have done this to mine several times plugging in trailers with bad wiring.
the connectors on the truck tailights. the clips are broken to hold them to the t-connector, what i might do is just put duct tape around them to kindof help seal them also. the 7 plug connecoror has a 4 wire input on the back of it cause i might decide to not have that on later on when i still have the truck.
Just keep in mind that if you add a brake controller you will have to run at the very least one new wire to the trailer plug, so make sure if you get an adaptor to the 7 flat RV style plug that is allows for you to add wires later on. That is assuming that your truck doesn't have the factory trailer harness since you are using the T adaptor. On my '96 I just run a RV plug on the bumper and carry an adaptor to go down to the 4 flat if I need it. Reason being this is part of what I do for a living and have noticed that loose hanging 4 wire plugs are far more prone to corrosion than other styles of trailer plugs.
