just came back in from a attempted fuel filter change. I took off the top, turned the little yellow plug to drain the filter hoising, I changed the filter, placed o ring in place and replaced the top. I closed the little yellow plug, primed the fuel filter started it up and it is pooring out fuel, WTF??? Is doed the o ring go on the filter housing on the install or the lid?? its pooring it out like the top is not even on it. I need some help!!!!
Mine did the same thing and was wondering WTF. Took the cap back off to check the o-ring and then tightened as much as I could by hand and still leaked. finally had to put the wrench to it and tightened it up and now now drip.
Did you put the oring on with the bevel side up? Dont need to beat on it you should tighten it down by hand and then 1/4-1/2 turn with the rachet or wrench.
mine has the original cap so i cant stick a drive in it and tighten it that way. I tapped mine on with a hammer and screwdriver> Maybe that was not the greatest idea but I had to get it stopped(all but a little drip) which i still do not like. It also runs quieter why would that be?? Its like now its not getting fuel. It idles fine but its quieter. I actually like it better. From the looks of that filter that was on it, i am suprised it was running at all.
make sure you didn't push the seal out of the grove. were did you get the filter could be bad o-ring. quieter don't know maybe thier was something stuck in the FPR and you nocked it lose when hitting on it
i went out and tried it again, I took off the lid, checked the oring for damages, assured it was on the correct way and tightened back down. It appeared the fixed the problem but I looked below and I still have a small drip. At first I thought it may be just leaking down form the prior soaking it got yesterday but it seemed to be a little too accesive. I think I am going to try a new style lid (mine is the old one) so I can tighten it with a drive rather than a tapping it with a screwdriver and hammer
Are you sure its leaking from the lid. I have seen them leak after you open the drain and change the filter. They start leaking at the drain valve. Theres 3 orings on it that will also leak. Just thinking out loud but give a look there also.
when it first started I turned the key ran around a looked and it was leaking out of the top lid oring like the lid was not on tight enough. I have not checked the oring in the drain valve. I will check that
i just went out and checked it, I looked down and there is fuel that is sitting directly below the drain. I will have to wait until daylight tomorrow before i can really tell. Not sure if it is leaking there or just sitting from yesterday
I use a pliers to loosen or tighten the original style lid on the fuel filter. I use the handles of the pliers like a spanner wrench and put each handle across from the other in the groves and then use another pliers or cresent wrench as a handle to turn the pliers. Take it easy so you don't break the lid.
