PUSH RODS
I pulled the heads off my 351M and I am having them done. While I am this far I also wanted to clean and paint the block. I pulled the push rods and the lifters, I was very careful to make sure I noted each lifters position so I can return it to the same position during reassembly. Now someone has told me that I should have done the same with the push rods, I did not, I have them seperated by side by I have no idea after that. What do I do now? Should I buy new or just put them back?

It is always good practice to put parts back where they came from to match wear patterns and minimize future wear, however, the Earth will not be sucked into the Sun at dawn because the push rods did not return to their original homes. Mismatching lifters (or bearing caps/connecting rods) would have been much more serious. Use your old rods and press on. Good Luck
