off light blinking
96 ext cab 4x4 auto 5.8..Im still trying to solve this problem. Here's what where I am so far. My check engine light is on, codes have been checked and it is p0443/purge cannister solenoid, the valve is good it works when grounded. Finding the ground issue can be done later, I don't think the EVAP system is related to the trans. system. That is posted for info, it is not the issue here!
My OD off light blinks but stops sometimes about 40-55 mph. The odbdII readout shows no trans codes, I'm inclined to think that it has none recorded. Other facts are that the trans shifts fine and the OD switch works fine. The best part is that the truck works fine, however, the problem is likely there somewhere and could be costly down the road. The only money I've thrown at this is to put a new Vehicle Speed Sensor in the rear diff./ no change. Does anyone have suggestions?

The 2 problems may have the same ground. My truck was giving me 3 different random emissions codes and it turned out it was a ground under the hood. This most likely isn't your problem but I would look for any obvious wires broken under the hood.
Does your Speedometer work corectly. Common problem on these. It may not be translating the speed input to the tranny properly if it's glitching out all the time. That's all I can think of.
Also........ totally unralated but, I'm swaping a 5.8 into my truck and was wondering if you have a pic of your upper intake that you could PM me?
