Navi Power Steering ?

I am about to have to change the Power steering pump on my 2000 Navi, anyone done this before, and know the step by step procedure. It sure looks tight down there where it is, any help would be appreciated, Thanks Joe.

the hardest part is taking the pulley off of the pump so you can take the pressure line off of the pump, I suggest taking the fan and shroud off that will open the area up after that it's just popping the return line off and 3 little bolts ( there are 4 bolt holes but ford realized the other one wasn 't needed and made it harder to take apart and put back in)

My symptoms are extremely hard to steer at idle and low speed almost as though no power steering at all, once driving it feels ok more like sport steering. Does this sound like the Pump?

at higher rpm while the truck is sitting still do you get more power assit? do you get more power steering in one direction then the other?

just from your symptoms it does sound like the pump but just so you know the pump and rack do tend to go out as a pair alot but I would replace the pump first then drive it

Yea, I get more assist with higher RPM sitting still, I dont notice a difference from one direction to the other. When I change the Pump what kind of fluid should I use, I have heard ATF and Mercon V, do you know which is correct?

I'll go out on a limb here and say, power steering fluid.
