Hey guys, i have a 2000 F350, 7.3. Its got DP_Tuner, ITP fuel setup with adjustable pressure, straight piped, and a DIY air filter. Problem is my truck is only getting about 8mpg in the city and 10mpg on the highway. It wasnt that big of a deal until last meek when i found out i have to drive 4,600 miles to Wyoming and back. Its not the tranny because its been replaced. ANY ideas will be great.
I read a post about the ebp sensor. What does that do?
Are you sure the fuel injectors are in good working order?
1. About 8mo
2. 33' tires
3. Usually the speed limit (75) Keep rpm around 2k
4. Usually economy but sometimes stock. Stock tune gets same result as econo.
5. Nope how do i check?
Do you have gauges? If you put it in a performance or even the economy tune and really get on the skinny pedal, do you get heavy black smoke out the tailpipe?
I'd be checking for a boost leak. Maybe leaking up pipes.
A clogged sensor and tube can affect readings the PCM uses in the fueling table, but it won't affect it that much. You really need an EGT (pyro) gauge and boost gauge. EGT's should be your top priority. It's easier to replace a transmission than an engine.
Check the up-pipes for signs of soot. Those are the pipes that go from the exhaust manifold up to the back of the turbo. If you see a bunch of black soot where they connect behind the turbo, that would explain a lot of the MPG and lack of smoke issue.

How do i check for clogged sensor?
There is some soot on the firewall behind the turbo, could that be the issur?
