Any ideas on where we could come up with a new cable for this van? Ford has discontinued this part so have had no luck finding one.I guess we could make one from a longer one or something similar.
You didn't say what year van you have but if its carburated then the throttle cable of anything from a 75 up to a 87 should work, if its 88 to 96 then all those years will be the same, I don't have anything any newer than 96 to go by but I do have several here from 76 to 96. Any salvage yard should have half dozen of these vans where you could grab one.

Thanks for the info....We have checked around down here and get the "good luck" answer. What can we get one for?....We have two of these vans and I haven't checked the second one out. It seems the cable rubbed on some of the plumbing at the rear of the motor. The motor is a 460 cu in. and these vans are 1993.

I couldn't imagine paying more than $5 to $10 for a throttle cable used but prices often depend on where you are on the map. I have been spending a lot of time down south lately and the junk yards are full of nice vans thanks to Obama's cash for clunkers so finding one should be very easy. If there is a U pull it yard anywhere near you that would be the best for pricing I'm sure. I could possibly pick one up on my next trip south in February if you have no luck else where.
