Remember my "slight lifter ticking what would you do" question ? Well after all that fretting about it,I finally figured it out.The thottle linkage bell crank that has that adjustable rod that goes from the bell crank (mounted on the engine)to the bracket bolted on the fire wall was acting as a conduit tranfering mettalic sounds from the engine to the fire wall were it was amplified by the fire wall resonating the sounds into the cab. this is why I could hear the noise only while in the truck. the remedy was to bend the bracket on the fire wall out a little on the end with the rod attached so that the sounds are not transfered
to the fire wall.(this is how it is supposed to be)
I had bent the bracket down flat probably when I took the transmission out for its rebuild without
disconnecting the linkage first. This was a real head scratcher of a problem that really was annoying and worrisome something, just didn't sound right! soI stuck with it and persistance paid off. now I have piece of mind. Hope this helps someone.thats what were here for.
