Manual or automatic transmission?
Farm truck typically means there's mud/dirt that has sat in the crevices of the frame and has been there for 20+ years.
Believe me, my two IDI's are former farm trucks. Great deals if you get them before the frame is totally gone!
manual and it actually comes with a second cab my whole thing is this will be my beater truck but I want to mod it mildly so it gets fairly quick but nothing drastic...im gonna look at it on saturday and drive it
Bulldog?
You realize a 6.9 IDI is going to be a real disappointment compared to that '04 6.0 in your signature right?
My IDI has been a big disappointment compared to my Big Block/4 speed and my Dad's '03 7.3 PSD.
However, these IDI's are cheap, mechanical, and simple to service.
It's slow, but WILL pull anything you hook to...learn to be patient and enjoy the scenery!
Turbo kits can be had from ATS, Banks, or Hypermax in the ballpark of $2,200 for a bolt-on kit.
With a few modifications, these IDI's can break some driveline parts!
$1,300 COULD be a good deal. It could also be a terrible deal depending on what brand those new Glow Plugs are.
If they burn up and leave you doing a head gasket job, you're going to be ticked!
I say go for it, fixing an IDI is easier, cheaper, more simple than fixing a Power Stroke.

another person to call the IDI slow.
please define "slow"? empty/hauling/need to lock her in 4 low to get up a grade etc, etc.?
i ask, because im very used to an 08 with 6.4 psd (my dads),and when empty,my idi even with its poor stock exhaust and NA to boot,is at no time "slow" nor even remotely "slow".( no 6.4 of course lol.but no way near "slow" either.not slow in acceleration, nor speed)
so do you mean when hauling? what kind of weight, grade, mph, gear are you in, when you say the IDI is "slow"?
(mines not on the road yet.but test runs, empty, where "impressive" and a far, far, cry from the word "slow".at any given time,i could have broken several laws of the road-speed related.)
you guys are starting to worry me about the IDI.

lol dude mines bone stock and it breaks driveline parts !! it seems like everything at once for me too.. im considering selling mine and look for a 86 6.9 crew cab 4x4
ive had mine up to about 130 once, and its completely stock. Not something i make a habit of though lol. usually i run around with the cruise set at 50.
