Cab Swap
started this thread as a build up if i deside to do it. also if anyone has any input or advice.
Putting the new cab on took about 4-5 hours total - that includes removing it from the '88 frame and installing it on ours. This time we had a lift, which made things much easier. Again, the cab & front end remained one piece.
You will probably need a lift to install the cab. I could not imagine installing it safely solely using manpower. Removing a junk cab is cake, because you can just roll it over, onto the ground.
As far as brakes, electrical, & linkage - it's all pretty easy. One bolt around the steering collar frees up the steering shaft, the master can be removed from the booster and laid over the engine (so you dont have to open any brake lines), and I would probably recommend just using all the electrics from the new cab.
What are the years, details, configurations, etc of the two trucks?
Let me know if you have any more questions. It's still pretty fresh in my memory right now.....
