Oh that is great fun. One of the first things I ever built was an iceboat. I was eleven. Put it together with anything I could scrounge. Didn't know about rough ice yet.........
Maiden voyage, got going about fifty, hit the rough ice and my iceboat started to disintegrate. (Note to self, use bolts and nuts, not nails!) It was a long walk home!

Yup, the type with the sail. Now I'll be able to sail summer and winter! Bruce, NAILS!!!! Wow, you're lucky you didn't get hurt. I can't wait. I'm hoping to get it mostly done today. I'll post some pics once I get her all fabbed up. Still don't have a name for her. The kids want to call it Skrat. That's the squirrel from Ice age, but my buddy is naming his Ice Age 1. So that won't work.

Good call Morris! Mostly bolts and a few screws on mine. I don't like walking that much. Also, this being the first one that I know of in Westman, I want it to work the first time. Too many Naysayers out there. Turns out I'm 3 pieces short of completion. I'll have to do some scrounging....

At first I thought you guys were just joking around, then I remembered seeing one of those "iceboats" a out at Sylvan lake,a while ago, they were racing. Just to be sure, is it something like a small 1 man sailboat, (sunboat they call it in Mexico), flat bottom, with a sail? If so, how do you build one? I live right on Gregoire Lake up here, and that would be so much fun, especially since it's always so darned windy here.
