so you couldnt get an actual chip for these trucks? i saw them on their website, but never looked for what vehicles you could get them for. i assumed this would be what the truck had since it did not come with a tuner. (maybe the previous owner hoped to use it on another truck or lied about it) anyway, any idea as to the cost of having a dealer at least check the programing? or having them re tune it? thanks again

If it is a chip. The computer is under the dash on the right.Like under the glovebox or kick panel area.
If it was programed with a tuner, You'll have to have that tuner or take it to the dealer to have to computer reset.
If it's a chip (and you can find it) just pull it out and you should be good to go.

F150's through 2004 "Heritage" models can be "chipped". The newer trucks use a different PCM that does not have a "service port", and they cannot be "chipped"-they MUST use a flash tuner. And to confuse you even more-the '97-'04 trucks that can be "chipped" can have a flash tuner used on them as well.
