I have an 09 f550 4x4 bucket truck for work. It does not sit level int the front. I have seen several leveling kits on ebay, 2" 29.95 billet alluminum goes under the spring made by summit engineering. Don't know anything about them how hard are they to install? Any recommendations would be great.
If it's a spacer that goes between the spring perch and axle mount, it's a cake walk to install. My leveling kit is a BDS lower perch spacer, and both sides went in two hours a side, most of the work was because I was being **** about streching brake and vac lines. I could do it again in half the time.
Google Icon Suspension systems, BDS Suspension, and Rize Suspension. Root around in their install instructions, and you'll be able to see for yourself what an install entails. But really, none of the main leveling kits kits are anything too crazy for anyone with some decent mechanical skills.
I am looking at a 2" piece of alluminum that goes what looks like between the sping perch and the bottom of the spring coil mount. Does this replace the lower coil mount? does it just sandwich in between? Is this install as easy as just unbolting the control arms and jacking up the truck away from the coils and installking the 2" pieces? The item I am looking at is on ebay 120513971855. $29.95 seems likea good deal???
That's what mine looks like (other than being aluminum), but I can't tell from the pic if the sides of the spacers are beveled to fit onto the axle mount or not, that's a big fitment issue. Read the BDS instructions link and you'll figure it out pretty quick. And I dunno enough about aluminum to know if that's an issue, mine are either iron or steel, they have a good heft to them.
Install is a cakewalk. Take out the shocks, unbolt the sway bar links, and drop the axle. I didn't take the trac bar off, and didn't mess with the steering or radius arms. I had to pull the brake calipers to get enough length on the brake lines, and ended up dropping the axle all the way to the ground and setting the rotors on some plywood. because the springs were being a PITA and didn't want to fit back in. Jack the axle back up, rebolt everything and replace the shocks, and finished.
I had some issues with the jackstands I used being too short (28"ish) so I used wood cribs to get them up high enough, and I only had two bottle jacks and one floor jack, so I had to use all three to get enough wood under the bottle jacks to get the truck high enough to be able to drop the axle enough. I put my stands in front of the axle, I didnt want to put them behind the radius arms since I have a short wheelbase and a diesel engine. PM me if you have any questions about the install, cause I have a few pics but I can't upload right for some reason.
