79 body swaps
I have a 1979 F150 2wd and i am planning on putting that body onto a 1979 F250 4x4 frame, they are both auto's, does anyone know if they will fit without a lot of messing around?
I am also planning on taking the 79 F250 4x4 body and putting that on a 72 F250 4x4 frame, i know the bed will not bolt up cause the 72 frame is narrower then the 79 frame, can this be done without a lot of hassel? thanks for any help.

429 I don't know if you are including cabs in your swap out.
You will have elevation snags with the cab between the 72/73 change.
As for the beds get out the big drill and make new holes, and drive on.

79 body swaps
The 79 bodies should be identical. The majority of my experience is with 73 thru 79 Ford pickups.
I built a half ton 4x4 on a 74 frame with a 78 4x2 cab and 8 foot stepside bed and 79 axles. The only problem I had was the floor pan on the 2 wheel drive was solid because it was a column shift and the 4x4 was a floor shift. The floor pan on the 4x2 was marked so I cut it out and mounted the removable center plate from the 4x4.
Been there, done that.

wn the frame rail width is different on a 2wd and 4wd. I think if you pull a tape across it, you will find this to be true.
