ok guys i did a swap from a 300 to 351w just a while back changed everything that had to be changed with the swap. i noticed my temp gauge wasn't working so i got a new temp senser and replaced the old one. after that the temp gauge is working alright says its hot. when i start the truck the gauge just goes from cold slowly to hot and when i turn power on to something else (Lights heater and wipers) it goes pass the hot mark but doesn't seem to be overheating i have checked to make sure the water pump is working and their is plenty of flow i checked the coolant level. and the radiator is a two core brand new. i have no leaks so i think it's got something to do with power i just need ideas to get me on track in fixing this problem. it's a 91 model 351w and everything is hooked up that i can think of so any help would be a big help thanks again oh the tstat isn't sticking i just drove it before i changed the temp sensor 30 miles and it didn't overheat
Well drivers left behind the distributor with one wire, sounds like you got the right one.
Turn on the key and take the wire off, the gauge should be at the end of the scale.
Short the wire to ground and the gauge should peg at the other end of the scale.
If it does this the gauge is OK but if does not do this you have wiring or gauge problems.
