Now yesterday it ran fine. I know the ignition was due for some new parts but when I tried starting it today it would not fire. No spark. I pulled all the plugs cleaned and gapped them reinstalled. The cap is so so but should work, The points needed a little help but worked yesterday, I removed them filed and checked continuity reinstalled. Checked power at the coil, tried several coils I had laying around. Could it be the condenser has shot craps in such a brief period?
I thought since it was running so good I'd go ahead and buy the new radiator which I did and when I tried to start it to move it out of the garage, it would not start. Isn't that always the way it goes? So tomorrow it will be all new ignition parts.
i would go with something like a pertronix ignition system and get rid of the points. the pertronix is just 2 wires that you have already and the screw that holds down the points holds it down, nice and simple and just works.
Replaced everything ignition and it purrs like a kitten again. I went with points, I am old fashion that way. I did change the Module in my 82 F100 today, hopefully that solves the quiting problem.
