Just an update on the attempted carb modification to try to improve mpg on my 460.I altered the linkage so the final two venturies wouldn't open when it was punched. Two problems came up. Not enough air came through to even keep the engine running and the extra fuel still kept pumping. Back to square one..I accept the mpg. Did find one thing though. The thermo-couple in the throat of the air cleaner was not working and kept the hot air diverter closed. She was starving for fresh air, that explains the black smoke.
