Sorry to steal the thread but I installed a 60 gallon Titan fuel tank and want to recalibrate the trip computer. I asked the dealer this morning during my recall work and they said they cant do it, I would need a new sending unit. Of course that sounds like BS to me, there must be a way to change the computer settings. Any ideas?
Well, found this TSB about recalibrating the trip computer on an 03, but it looks like it can only be set to one of Ford's standard tank sizes, the max of which was 40 gallons. Guess I will just shut my trip computer off or just use it for the compass.
Yea I found out about him over the weekend. A friend of mine helped me put new nerf bars on my truck this weekend, and I was telling him about the overhead computer. He said his brother had just gotten his back for his 99 F350 on Thursday. We called him and he gave me all the info. The only thing is I took mine to a local electronics shop last week, and I have not heard anything from them since. I am gonna call them Today, and if they have not done anything I am gonna get it Back and send it to this guy..Thanks for the Info again I just wish I would have gotten it sooner.
Thanks to everybody for the input on this issue. I finally got the overhead trip computer back from the local repair shop. As I said in my last post I was going to call them yesterday and see if they had tried to fix it and if not I was going to send it to the guy mentioned in the other post. Well the repair shop called me and told me it was done before I got the chance to call them.Well I took it home put it back in the truck and its working perfectly. The price was $19.95 so I will be getting my supporter badgewith the money I saved. The cheapest I saw the new one for was 179.00..Thats a savings of 159.05...Thanks again

Soldered the 620 and 680 resistors and the trip computer works great. Thanks for excellent info. Had to use a soldering pencil and soldered from the top of the circuit board.

thanks, i figured that out. opened mine up a few days ago and lost one and saw 2 more about to rattle loose. here is a pic for future reference.
Ive been reading all the postings for repairing the computer. I pulled mine out and found that one of the resistors was not connected but still there and I have lost one completely. I have seen that some of you have stated that you have connected new ones in place. My question is "how do you figure out the value of the replacement resistor?" Since there are two different numbers on the 7 resistors im not sure which one is missing. Any help is greatly appreciated.
