I've been doing some thinking. Mistyslav, Are 1970's f250s or f350's available in South Africa? Or can you only get an f100. If only f100's were available, then having the f11(meaning f100, f25 and f35 meaning f250 and f350) in front of the vin would be a moot point for an exported South African truck. That would leave the JRD6xxxxxxx. Which could be...
J=460 4 barell
R= San Jose Assembly plant
D6= truck built in 1976
Then they just added more numbers to then end to make it the right amount of digits. Just a thought though. Don't take my word for it

You may have something there, AirSmitty. I hadn't thought of that.
Still, if that turns out to be the case, I will be surprised. That would be one of the farthest possible plants from South Africa, if not the farthest. Certainly not to say that it isn't possible...but since most of these trucks tend to be found in the same basic geographic region as their manufacture, it would definitely be uncommon. Argentina maybe...or Norfolk...but California? This should be interesting!
Mfg. plant aside, if it were a 460 truck, that may explain why there is no motor in it. Because of its apparent rarity over there, it could have been yanked out and put in something else. Or it could have been removed in preparation for the transplanting of a more common engine if it needed an overhaul.
This is just guessing, of course, but it's still fun!
Yeah it's just a thought! I don't know much about the foreign ford trucks. I know that they call the f150 the Lobo in Mexico, and i know that Australia you can only get an f250 and it only comes with a 5.4 last time i checked, and in Brazil ford just bought a company that makes a jeep clone(Troller).A Little diesel engine, and locked dana 44's front and rear! With a stock snorkel! Man oh man.
