ABS Light on dash - sensor torn away at diff
So I see many people talking about the ABS light on the dash being on steady, or their cruise not working or even the speedo gauge being herky jerky on occasion. Quirky wierd things...
I simply have the ABS light on the dash, on steady.
And I had a couple issues the other day with my brakes slamming on when I was pulling a small trailer. It sounds like something in the trailer broke loose and hit the front of the trailer when I was near stopped, or coming to a stop. When reality is, the brakes on the Ex... slammed on hard for a milli second, when I was coming to a stop (no skidding, just incredible milli-second braking).
Further investigation showed my ABS sensor on the top of my rear diff TORN OFF the diff. Not sure how it was broke or tore off, but it was laying next to the diff. The actual sensor or components, are broke in half. So I have the wiring still attached to a connector, and two small probes with small wires connected but torn away from the rest of the sensor thats bolted into the diff. Kind of odd, since I don't do any crazy 4x action.... and there was plenty of slack in the wiring to allow full droop of the diff.
I also read this post about the issue and found Napa has a replacement part... cheap!! My original Ford P/N is F85F-9E731-AB and stamped right on the connector.
I hope this post, helps any of you with a similar problem.
Not sure what to do, I just havent worried about it and have been driving it like that for months.
