Not sure if I want stacks or not. They may not be a mitre, but they would be a turn out stack. 5 inch. What do you guys think?
Do people with stacks ever get in trouble? Im more worried of being profiled. I don't drive stupid, I don't smoke out intersections, I don't speed, and really have no reason to be pulled over, but just curious if im asking for trouble by getting stacks?
I haven't had any problems with the police in my truck and I have a fairly heavy right foot. One thing that I am going to change is going to a 6" setup I stead of the 5's just because the 6's that I've heard are quieter so they will draw a little less attention. Another thing that may not be a problem with the turnouts cuz the noise is directed away is in cab drown, it's the first thing that passengers complain about in my truck but I'm so used to it that I don't even hear it anymore. And holy crap your truck rolls it, is that a cali truck? Cuz I didn't think that you had a chip or any major work done to that.

guess my photoshop skills are pretty good if you thought that was actually my truck rolling it like that...
Yes my truck is a cali truck with AB code injectors and I can put quite a bit of fuel out with just a ICP mod... but once I get my chip i bet i can do pretty damn well.
Im liking the turn outs more than i thought i would.
Big question is what do you use your box for? Your sig shows a pretty good sized trailer, do you haul a lot of stuff and will the stacks interfere with that?? Look cool to me but I got a topper and a camper I wanna keep the soot off of, might even blacken your trailer as well??
You asked for opinions so I'll go ahead and say that I really don't like the look of stacks in a pickup. It is just the way I am that I would prefer my truck to be a "sleeper".
That is, when I finally get done with the mods I want to add (Stage I's or II's, TW chip, and other minor appearance/ride related things) I want my truck to look mostly stock but just be a little different in appearance. I want a passenger or observer to be blown away when I have to really lay into the go-pedal for some reason because they never would have expected the performance based on appearance.
It is just kind of the way I am-I prefer the understated look and subsequent somewhat lowered expectations that go with it. Makes the surprise all the greater when I show what I really can do when I have to.
IMO, lifting the truck for appearance's sake and putting stacks on it is saying "Look at me-I have a badass truck". If the truck isn't the badass-est truck on the block, it is kind of a let-down.
Just my opinion. To each his own. Please don't take it personally. I have seen some attractive rigs with stacks. They are just not for me.
Besides all that, with my BackRack and winch set up in a short bed, I wouldn't be able to use my truck for what I frequently use it for if I lost space to stacks.
I agree with Kal. But I use my bed too frequently for stacks. I've always liked the looks of stacks on dually's but that's about it. Some trucks pull it off real well though. To each their own though, it's your truck so p*ss on what others think....LOL

I agree with you on alot of that....
The lift part, well i already got 35 inch tires and don't mind playing around with this truck, the lift would allow me to flex the truck a little more up at the cabin and on the trails up there.
The reason why im thinking I might try the stacks, is because my dad cannot stand the smell of diesel fuel. When I start my truck up, it blows towards his window most the time, and if I can get the fuel to go up instead of out it might help.
I figure, I will try them. I will take the plastic bed liner out of my truck, cut the whole and put them in. Drive around like that for a while. If I like them, then I can cut a whole in the bed liner and be done. If I dont like them, I will either save the piece i cut out of the bed,and reweld it in, or just get a flat piece of steel and weld it in. The bed liner will not have a whole in it, so it will never look like I had stacks ever.
I really dont think any photo shop will do justice to what stacks on my truck would look like. Not only that, but if it will help with my dad and the smell of diesel (he rarely rides in the truck, so im not worried about that) but when I am warming it up in the morning it blows out and surrounds his office windows. Also I have always wanted a truck with stacks, but never thought they were justified, and now i have a justification (not to menition I can blow some decent smoke)
I also use the bed fairly often, but I never had an issue of not having enough space when I had my 24 inch tool box on there, so that essiencally made my truck a short bed. the stuff I haul is never large enough to be of concern. And the trailer already gets soot all over the passenger side of it when im going up to the track, coming back its all down hill so it doesnt get any on the way home. I really dont care much about that, since it just rinses off...
i have six inch miter cut grand rocks in my ext cab long bed and absolutely love them. they far exceeded my expectations for sound, performance and looks! and i had pretty high expectations for them. i love the way a good set of stacks look, also i just got pulled over on the first for a seat belt violation and the cop didnt say a thing about my exhaust. ive got a three inch downpipe into four inch under the truck, five in the bed and six inch at the tip with no par. filter (cat) and no muffler. there is no doubt stacks are loud but as long as ur not a jerk around town i think youll be fine. id do it all the same knowing what i know now with mine, and id have done it sooner. hope that helps! definitely remove the bedliner, i wouldnt bother to put it back in, im gonna get a rubber mat for mine and cut it to length.
I don't like stacks on a pickup. Loss of use of the full bed, for a toolbox, cap, slide-in camper, etc... are some of the practical reson. Also I just plain don't like the look, some trucks wear it well, like pullers...but otherwise I find it looks poserish (if thats a word).
I do like a moderate lift and bigger tires, within reason. Your 35's fill out the wheel well and a little lift should look good. But if you ever plan to houl a 5th wheel trailer, the increased hight may cause problems.
For the exhaust gas going out the side part, you could always turn a turn out stack pointing down from under ur truck. and for lift, if you haven't yet put an add-a-leaf, you could put an add-a-leaf, and a 350 block in the rear. Thats if you want to pull a 5th wheel in the future
The are not quite straight yet, but they sound super nice...
The thing is, with the windows up, you cannot even tell that its louder than when it exited back in the stock location straight piped... But with the windows down, it is loud... I like them.
