I get a CEL at first startup when temps are at or near 0 F or below. The fault code cited is P0068, which my technician says doesn't exist for the 6.4. My code reader also says it's an unknown SAE code.
It did exist for the 6.0 and some gasoline models and was an improper correlation between the throttle position sensor and the MAF or MAP sensor.
I carry my code reader in the truck and plug it in and clear the code. It does not reappear until the next 0 degree start, whereupon I clear it again.
Ford told me a year ago that they were having some cold weather issues that set this or one of two other codes. This was in Winona, MN. The service manager told me I needed to bring it back south where it was warmer. Well . . . I'm south and it ain't warmer.
Have any of you experienced this? What if anything is the cure? Thanks!
Just looked at the diagnostic codes posted above for the 6.4. P0068 is listed as a correlation error between the MAP sensor and EBP sensor. Says it's set, if I'm reading correctly, in the KOEO mode. Now how could pressures be different in the intake and exhaust with the engine not running just because it's too cold?
