I am in the process of collecting the parts to do a straight axle front and a 10.25 rear axle swap on my 94 F150. I came across a heavy duty 3/4 ton D44 out of a '77 Highboy and was curious if it would work or not? The shop that has it says the spring perches are narrower then what I need. Anyone have any input at all. Thanks!
I think if I was doing it I would find a dana 44 out of a 70's 1/2 ton or bronco so it had the right mounts on it. Then hang the 3/4 dana 44 outers parts on it to make it 8 lug.
I was planning on keeping it leaf sprung, but I am having a difficult time finding a d60 front that people don't want an arm and a leg for around here. I thought about the 1/2 ton d44 straight and switching to 8 lug hubs too. Thanks for the replies guys.
keeping it leaf sprung? when were f150s ever leaf sprung?
thing is you put a 1 ton rear but you still have a 1/2 ton front, still a weak point, even that 3/4 tone front, i think its pretty much the same as a 1/2 but with coil spings and 8 lug outters so really what are you standing to gain here?
you didnt mention what you use this truck for or really any specs of the truck...or why you needed that 1 ton rear in the first place?
